I am a forward-thinking pharmacist and aesthetic practitioner driven by a personal journey that has shaped my innovative perspective and approach to skincare and aesthetics. A deep-rooted family history of acne ignited my passion to pursue skin health, compelling me to help others overcome their skin challenges. This journey led me to forge a path into skin and body rejuvenation.
Many people are held back from living joyful and fulfilled lives due to their struggles with skin and self-image issues. My practice transcends traditional skincare, drawing inspiration from my family’s experiences.
Recognizing the profound physical and psychological impact of skin conditions, I delve deep into the connection between skin health and emotional well-being. Hence, I incorporate Psychodermatology into my treatments and procedures. Psychodermatology is the treatment of skin disorders by addressing the interaction between the mind and skin. For example, stress can raise the level of cortisol, which accelerates oil production and exacerbates acne. Moreover, stress-induced sleep disturbance can lead to dehydrated skin. The skin responds to various emotional and environmental stressors, and I help to manage these responses.
My professional journey began in 2001 when I qualified as a pharmacist. This foundational training equipped me with comprehensive knowledge to guide patients on product usage, interactions, and potential side effects. My commitment to patient-centred care fuelled my passion, leading me to pursue further training. I completed the pharmacist independent prescriber course, enabling me to prescribe medicines independently and take a more comprehensive role in client care.
Driven by an insatiable thirst for knowledge, I actively seek to continually refine my skill set. Pursuing a diploma in Clinical Dermatology in 2001 allowed me to understand the nuances of skin physiology, health, disorders, and advanced treatments. In 2023, I furthered my professional development, attaining a Master’s qualification in Clinical Dermatology from the University of South Wales. Additionally, I am a proud member of Psychodermatology UK.
While I was undertaking my Master’s in Clinical Dermatology, I discovered the intricate connection between digestive health and skin conditions, prompting me to explore nutrition to expand my expertise. Consequently, I acquired an additional certification in Nutrition from Aberdeen University.
Utilizing an integrative approach focusing on nutrition, skincare ingredients, and Psychodermatology, I aim for positive outcomes. People with skin issues need informed practitioners who understand the importance of an integrative approach, ensuring the best and most sustainable results.
My unique approach to consultation and treatments involves a holistic perspective, as I realized that some treatments offer temporary relief without addressing the root cause. This holistic approach considers nutrition, lifestyle, and other factors for long-term skin wellness.
Employing a collaborative approach, I build a toolbox of resources for clients. Recognizing that I may not be the perfect fit for everyone, I collaborate with trusted colleagues and resources, ensuring clients receive tailored care.
Empowering clients through education is vital. Providing resources, articles, and interviews expands their knowledge, enabling them to make informed decisions and take an active role in their skin wellness. To this end, I always seek to educate clients on various skin-related aspects, including:
Nutrition Basics: Exploring the direct influence of nutrition on skin health.
Stress & Your Skin: Unpacking the effects of stress on skin behaviour.
Hormones & Skin Health: Understanding the role hormones play in achieving glowing skin.
Lifestyle Practices: Examining how sleep, exercise, and environment influence skin health.
Emotions & Mindset Matter: Exploring the powerful connection between emotions, thoughts, and skin health.
Products, Ingredients & Treatments: Investigating the influence of topical and internal products and treatments on the skin.
Gut Health and Digestion: Understanding and exploring the impact of digestion and microbiome (gut bacteria)on skin health.
My belief is that true beauty radiates from within. My treatments not only enhance external appearance but also nurture self-confidence and self-love, guiding clients on a holistic journey towards vibrant skin and inner confidence.
